A Typical Sunday at FCF

Here at FCF we believe that ‘church’ is happening every day. We are the ‘church’ and we carry God’s presence with us as we go about our everyday activities – going to work, spending time with family, playing sports. We gather on Sunday mornings to worship corporately, to share what God’s been doing, and to gain encouragement from the Word of God and our fellowship together. We welcome you to join us to experience a taste of who we are and what God is doing among us.

Start Time: 10 am (give or take 5 minutes)

Order of Service:
Never quite the same cuz God shows up and does His thing. Typically we have a time of praise and worship (singing songs about and to God) followed by teaching from the Word of God. Testimonies, dance, prophecy, special presentations, prayer and personal ministry can all show up from time to time as God leads.

Dress standard:
For some reason, what to wear is a major source of concern for visitors to a church. Relax. Come as you are. Fashion at FCF runs the whole gamut from those just getting off work and still in their uniforms to those who love the excuse to dress up in their best duds. On average people from medium to dressy casual.

Child Care:
We have nursery stocked with toys, rocking chairs, and small snacks. Nursing mothers and parents of young children are welcome to use the room during our gathering. At this time we are not staffing the nursery with volunteers. We will announce when childcare is available.

Kids Church happens most Sundays. Kids age 5-10 are invited to come to the back room after the worship service (an overhead is put up announcing when its time) for Bible teaching, games, fun, snacks, crafts, drama and worship.

Style of worship:
You may not be familiar with our expressions of worship. At Flamborough Christian Fellowship we have an expression of worship that has its foundation on the Word of God. Our desire is to be yielded to the Holy Spirit. Not everyone who comes to join us for worship is familiar with our approach. Because we want you to be able to enjoy this time together, we are providing this explanation to make you aware of some elements of our corporate expression of worship and explain why they occur. No two services are alike.

First, we want you to know in visiting with us that we do not want you to feel pressured to participate in any expression of worship that you do not feel comfortable with.

Secondly, just because our expression may be more free flowing or spontaneous than others, this does not mean that we are more spiritual, nor does it mean that you will not find the sin nature expressing itself at times. We are not perfect.

Third, if you are uncomfortable for any reason or if our service tends to go a little later than you were expecting, please feel free to leave quietly without being concerned that we will be offended or that you will disturb what is going on. Please feel free to come again

Finally, in every service, either the Pastor, the elders or someone that has been designated by the Pastor will be watching over the service. If someone is expressing themselves inappropriately or in a way that centers attention on themselves because of actions or immodest dress, etc. this will be dealt with quietly, gently and with loving respect. It is our belief that both quiet expressions of reverence and open expressions of joy are completely in order when God’s people meet together. Our desire is that there would be a freedom of expression, mutual edification and fresh revelation of God’s manifest presence, power and glory.

Participation:
For the safety and enjoyment of everyone at the gathering we have a few guidelines about participation to make things run smoothly.

We invite you to sing and dance and join in with gusto during praise and worship. Feel free to use the flags and ribbons located around the sanctuary. The front centre is reserved for those who have been released by the leadership in dance ministry so we would ask that you stay to the sides and back. There are smaller flags available for children to use under the supervision of their parents.

In our meetings, unless special permission is granted, we limit all expression of the gifts of the Holy Spirit to those who regularly attend our church and we weigh carefully the words being spoken.

Our ministry team wears badges so they can be easily identified. Those on the team have been trained and released to lay hands on people and minister to them. Unless you know the person personally, for your safety we recommend not allowing anyone without a badge to pray for you unless there is a special occasion announced from the platform.
